Two weekends to experience the wide array of attractions offered by the Lanzo Valleys, reachable by train and bus shuttle, for a slow and sustainable approach: the “Weekend in the Lanzo Valleys" iniziative, on 29 - 30 June and 7 - 8 September is an invitation to live the history, culture and food and wine traditions of an area that is an ideal "open-air traning ground" for a lot of outdoor activities.

The starting point will be the Torino Dora railway station, on the historic Torino - Ceres line, which connects the main city to the Valleys through Caselle Torino Airport and the Reggia di Venaria, the Residence of the Royal House Savoy UNESCO. Arriving at the station of Lanzo and Ceres, travelers can choose to use the shuttle bus service with three different connections: Ceres – Ala – Balme; Ceres – Cantoira – Chialamberto – Groscavallo; Lanzo – Viù – Lemie – Usseglio.

The Valleys are characterized by a wild natural landscape, against the backdrop of the Graian Alps, dominated by the peaks of the Uja di Ciamarella and the Rocciamelone, along with about 100 alpine lakes. The territory offers to all lovers of active and adventure tourism a network of walking paths and hiking trails, as well as routes accessible to people with disabilities.

Already known as the "garden of Torino" in the XIX century, today the Valle Grande, Val d'Ala, Valle di Viù, Valli del Tesso and Malone conquer the visitor with a heritage of art, itineraries spiritual and flavors that covers a vast scope of time and has left an unmistakable mark on urban architecture, with its lively towns and mountain villages, dotted with churches and sanctuaries.

A land of historical religiosity, the Valleys can also be discovered along the Path of the Virgin Mary Apparitions, immersed in the woods on the way from Chiaves to the Sanctuary of Marsaglia, or on the Paths of the Holy Shroud, to admire many valuable Shroud representations preserved in Ceres (in Voragno), in Lanzo, Ciriè and Balme. This important testimony of popular devotion is linked to the photographic exhibition Imago - The journey of the Shroud, realized by Marco Ansaloni in collaboration with National Geographic Italy. The exhibition, which will be opened on June 28th, is hosted at Ceres station, in the renewed structure of the loading area, and can be visited from 29th to 30th June and from 7th to 8th September 2019.

The initiative “Weekend in the Lanzo Valleys” is part of the experimental project "Valli di Lanzo. The Outdoor Gym in Torino”, promoted by Regione Piemonte and coordinated by VisitPiemonte with ATL Turismo Torino e Provincia, in collaboration with GTT - Gruppo Torinese Trasporti, Consorzio Operatori Turistici Valli di Lanzo, GAL Valli di Lanzo, Ceronda e Casternone, Unione Montana Alpi Graie, Unione Montana di Comuni delle Valli di Lanzo, Ceronda and Casternone, CAI Sezione di Lanzo Torinese and Associazione Sentieri e Saperi senza Barriere.
