Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2024

The Tour de France 2024, one of the most important and expected sporting events in the world, on 1 and 2 July will attract the attention of millions of fans on Piedmont, which will also be the first Italian region to have hosted in the same year the great start of the two largest cycling stages in the world. The Grand Départ of the Tour will be preceded by the opening of the Giro d'Italia, which will start on May 4 with the Venaria Reale-Torino race.

From Piacenza, the 111. "Grand Boucle" after 58 kilometers will reach Piedmont. Here the race will get heated immediately thanks to the mountain Grand Prix on the climb to Tortona: a tribute to the "Champion", the Piedmontese Fausto Coppi. Then, there will be a turn on Alessandria, until you reach Asti first, passing by Nizza Monferrato and Canelli, and then the Cuneese (the area of Cuneo), with the climbs of Barbaresco and Sommariva Perno interspersed with the crossing of Alba: it will be an authentic journey of taste among the UNESCO hills of Langhe, Monferrato and Roero. The grand finale will be in the area of Turin: Carmagnola with a view of Stupinigi and then in the city of Turin, with a spectacular arrival that will exalt the fast wheels of the group. And the next day the the race will start again from Pinerolo and  will pass by Sestriere and the Pass of Monginevro: 138 spectacular mountain kilometers where the best "grimpeurs" will compete. 

For Piedmont it will be the opportunity to bring under the international spotlight its landscapes, culture and food and wine, but also the suggestions of a land historically linked to cycling, and rich in itineraries and cycle trails for all. 100 days before the historic event in Turin, the Mole Antonelliana, the bridges along the Po river and Palazzo Civico were lit with yellow, the official colour of the cycling competition.
